I can’t believe we are well into August now. It has been a while since we last posted. The summer season has been flashing by and we have been extremely busy here at Totally Norfolk HQ!
Laura was missing the buzz of an office so decided to open one up, albeit, temporarily! So we now have a pop up office located in the lovely coastal village of West Runton, it’s just across the road from Water Lane (which leads down to the beach) and of course, the Village Inn Pub. Do feel free to pop in if you’re passing by.
There is a lot going on this month, infact far too much to mention in this little blog, however a few snippets. … to start with, Mariah Carey (90s pop star royalty) is coming to The Sandringham Estate! As are The Pet Shop Boys, The Stereophonics and Michael Buble. For further details and for ticket purchases please refer to the Sandringham website;
We are looking forward to Bear Grylls’s Gone Wild Festival which is taking place this weekend (7-10 August ’25). This is an amazing, family fun filled weekend at the Holkham Estate.. this is the second year in which it will be taking place in Norfolk.
Escape the ordinary and dive into adventure, this isn't just a festival; it's an immersive experience designed to push your boundaries and reconnect you with nature and wellness. Learn essential skills, tackle exhilarating challenges, and enjoy live music and entertainment, all set against the stunning backdrop of Holkham Hall. There will be various workshops and talks. Inspirational people in the line-up include Joe Wicks, Mother Pukka (aka Anna Whitehouse), Alex Jones and James Haskell.
My son and I went to Gone Wild at Powderham Castle in Devon a couple of years ago and we had a blast, it was a unique weekend of adventure, adrenaline-fueled activities, yoga, wellness and music.
We are delighted that GWF has come to Norfolk, and the Holkham Estate is the perfect setting for it. If you’re up for a fun weekend of camping (or glamping - ‘boutique camping’ is an option, for those of you who aren't too keen on roughing it), adventure and music, get your skates on - the weather forecast for this weekend looks promising too!

We are hardly surprised to see that two venues in Norfolk are mentioned in the Good Food Guide’s ’23 of Britain’s Top Spots for Oysters’, namely Rocky Bottoms in West Runton and The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe.
If you’re after some of the freshest and best oysters in the country, whilst you’re staying here in Norfolk, we highly recommend Rocky Bottoms.
If you happen to be staying with us in one of Totally Norfolk’s holiday lets, Rocky Bottoms is a short drive or coastal bus hop away from Cromer. The setting is fantastic, with the outlook being towards the North Sea, in the distance. It is a family friendly venue, there’s tonnes of space and greenery for children to roam, outdoor terraces and deckchairs.
Freshly caught seafood is high on the agenda. The menu changes daily and ranges from poke bowls to grilled lobster. There are also options on the menu for those who are not fans of seafood.
Further along the coast, the Annual Oyster Festival will be taking place in Brancaster Staithe from 13-17 August, keep your eyes peeled on the White Horse website – there will be an extensive oyster menu, live music and the English sparkling wine will be flowing! Save the date, Friday 16th August.
Back to Cromer… if you’re after lunch or supper options, Fino, which is another firm favourite, has received quite a lot of national recognition recently.
This little neighbourhood restaurant is a real gem and despite not being around for that long, it has made the list of ‘100 Best Local Restaurants in 2025’, and the best in the region. Definitely worth trying, booking is highly advisable. Open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Saturday. The set lunch menu is £15 including a glass of house wine.
August is carnival time here in North Norfolk, with both Sheringham and Cromer carnivals taking place.
Our lovely Laura, a Cromer local who knows the area inside out, is looking forward to the Cromer Carnival, which takes place from 16th to 22nd August.
Cromer Carnival is a week-long celebration with various events and attractions, food and entertainment for all ages. Laura in particular is looking forward to the fancy dress element and the lively atmosphere that prevails during Carnival week.
For further details of schedules and happenings please refer to the official Cromer Carnival website
Whatever you are up to this month, we hope that you are having a lovely summer.
